THE FERNS MEDICAL PRACTICE

The Ferns Medical Practice is a Training Practice. The Practice has full commitment to training and education.

You may be offered an appointment either with a GP Registrar:- These are GP trainees who are fully qualified and will have had some experience in several Hospital specialities.  Or with a Foundation Year 2 (FY2) Doctor:- These are hospital based, qualified doctors with a 4 month attachment to General Practice. They are doing the job as part of their training and gaining wider experience in General Practice

We also host medical students from St George’s Hospital Medical School. On occasions, you may be asked to see the Doctor or Nurse with a student present. Or they may see you in the first instance, but you will always be seen by a qualified GP afterwards.

You will always have the option of choosing to not be seen by a medical student or have him/her sitting in on the consultation.
