THE FERNS MEDICAL PRACTICE
OUR APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
In response to patient feedback telling us it can sometimes be difficult to get a routine doctor appointment or getting through on the telephone can be frustrating, we have decided to introduce a new system of booking an urgent on the day appointment. We hope this will make it easier for our patients to access a doctor for their routine care.
- Patients will be seen at The Ferns Medical Practice for all their urgent and routine care
- Offer of a telephone or face to face appointment for urgent same day appointment
- Shorter waits to see a doctor for routine appointments
- Easier to get through on the phone (we are upgrading our phone system and reception area)
Our reception staff will ask you for some information in order to help the doctor prepare for your appointment or phone call or they may signpost you to an alternative clinician or service that can deal with your query or condition. Please help the doctors by answering these questions.
DR KANESWARAN LEAVING PRACTICE
AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2019
We will be very sorry to say goodbye to Dr Kaneswaran who is leaving the practice at the end of February.
We are recruiting a new doctor and patients registered with Dr Kaneswaran will be transferred to the care of a new doctor.
NEW from September 2017 – Patient Extended Access Appointments
Routine GP appointments available on Saturday mornings in Farnham and Sunday mornings at Frimley Park Hospital
Routine Practice Nurse and Healthcare Assistant appointments available Monday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings in Farnham
The five Farnham practices (Downing Street, Farnham Dene, The Ferns, Holly Tree and River Wey) continue to work together and will be offering routine appointments to their registered patients through NHS England’s new Patient Extended Access.
The Extended Access appointments will give patients from all five practices the opportunity to see a doctor, nurse or health care assistant for a routine appointment outside the core hours of their GP practice.
The appointment with the doctor, nurse or healthcare assistance is booked through the patient’s home practice reception team. However, the appointment will take place at the Farnham Integrated Care Centre based in Farnham Centre for Health.
Patients are also able to book a routine GP appointment on a Sunday morning through the patient’s home practice. These appointments will take place at Frimley Park Hospital, Out-Patients.
Named Accountable GP
Patients registered with the practice are given a “named accountable GP”. We refer to this as “usual doctor”. You probably already know the name of your usual doctor. If you are not sure and would like to find out, please contact reception.
